Navy wins 31-10 at Bloomsburg as bonus points decide dual
The Midshipmen piled up majors, a technical fall and a pin in the middle and upper weights to turn a tight start into a 31-10 road victory in Bloomsburg, Pa.
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — Navy defeated Bloomsburg 31-10 at Bloomsburg University on Jan. 23, 2026, using a string of bonus-point wins in the middle and upper weights to create separation on the scoreboard.
Nick Treaster opened the night for Navy with a 5-0 decision at 125 pounds, scoring a second-period reversal and a third-period takedown to produce the early team points.
Bloomsburg answered at 133 when Gavin Mundy scored a 16-6 major decision over Hunter Heflin, building an early lead with near-fall scoring and a late third-period takedown and riding-time point that kept the Huskies within striking distance.
Navy reclaimed momentum with a sequence of bonus results. Nicholas Vafiadis pinned Richie Woods at 141 to put the visitors back in front. Frank Antonelli followed with a 6-3 decision at 149, and Cooper Rathburn earned a 15-2 major decision at 157.
No. 28 Dylan Elmore delivered another bonus outcome at 165, rolling to a 14-3 major decision. Elmore added a late third-period takedown and a riding-time point to finish the score and extend Navy’s advantage.
Bloomsburg’s Eric Alderfer kept the dual alive with a 2-1 decision at 174, but Navy clinched the team result in the upper weights. Daniel Williams recorded a 16-0 technical fall at 184 after an opening takedown and three near-fall sequences in the first period.
No. 30 Payton Thomas sealed the dual at 197 with a pin. Thomas opened the match with a first-period takedown and finished the bout by fall, putting the meet out of reach for the hosts.
Bloomsburg closed the night at heavyweight with a 2-0 decision by Tyler McCatharn, but Navy’s run of bonus-point victories in the middle and upper weights produced the final 31-10 margin.
The result also gave Navy its first road victory of the season and marked an uptick in finishing for the Midshipmen, who converted several bouts into majors, a technical fall and a pin over the course of the dual.
Coaches from both programs described multiple tightly contested, position-driven bouts throughout the lineup, with Navy’s ability to turn several matches into bonus-point outcomes proving decisive in the final score.
