Pittsburgh used two early major decisions, a forfeit and several bonus-point wins to post a 37-0 shutout of Virginia on Feb. 20, 2026.
PITTSBURGH — No. 15 Pittsburgh posted a 37-0 shutout of Virginia on Feb. 20, 2026, closing its regular-season home slate with a string of bonus-point victories and a forfeit that built an insurmountable team lead.
Chase Kranitz opened the dual with an 11-1 major decision at 184 to give Pittsburgh an early 4-0 lead. No. 8 Mac Stout followed with a 13-2 major decision at 197 to extend the margin to 8-0 and put Virginia on its heels.
A forfeit at 133 awarded to Evan Tallmadge increased Pittsburgh’s advantage to 20-0 before the midcard. Dayton Pitzer’s 7-1 decision at heavyweight and Tyler Chappell’s 2-1 victory at 125 pushed the score further as Pitt accumulated bonus and close wins.
Chappell’s decision over Keyveon Roller came on a Period 2 escape and a riding-time point credited in the third, producing the final 2-1 margin. The 125-pound result registered as an upset in the bout-level ranking snapshot, with Chappell at No. 30 and Roller at No. 28.
Anthony Santaniello built a first-period advantage and finished with a 13-8 decision at 141 to keep momentum for the Panthers. At 149, No. 24 Kade Brown prevailed in tiebreaks, scoring an overtime escape and a four-point nearfall to win 6-1.
Dylan Evans, ranked No. 12 at 157, recorded a 12-2 major decision, scoring takedowns and a late third-period takedown that secured the bonus. Jared Keslar ended his 165-pound bout with a three-point takedown in Overtime 1 to defeat Michael Murphy, 4-1.
No. 13 Luca Augustine closed the lineup with a 12-1 major decision at 174, using a third-period takedown and a four-point nearfall plus a riding-time point to finish the bout. Multiple matches produced extra-team points for Pittsburgh and left Virginia unable to mount a comeback.
Virginia’s recap noted two matches reached overtime and described the 125 decision as a riding-time result. The Cavaliers’ release also recorded the final dual score and said the result closed Virginia’s ACC slate. Pittsburgh’s home recap identified the meet as Senior Night and as the program’s final dual at Fitzgerald Field House before moving to a new facility next season.
The shutout moved Pittsburgh to an 11-4 overall mark and 3-3 in ACC duals, while Virginia fell to 9-8 overall and 1-5 in conference competition, according to the schools’ postmatch summaries. Senior ceremonies accompanied the win for the Panthers.
Key turning points were the early majors by Kranitz and Stout, the forfeit at 133 that produced a 20-0 cushion, and the trio of later bonus-point wins that prevented any late rally by the visitors. Pittsburgh closed the regular season at home with a scoreline that reflected both high-ranked individual results and depth across the lineup.
