Lehigh edges Bucknell 21-16 on Senior Day at Grace Hall

No. 3 Sheldon Seymour opened with a first-period technical fall and Lehigh closed with key decisions and major decisions to top Bucknell 21-16 in Bethlehem, Pa.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Lehigh defeated Bucknell 21-16 Saturday at Lehigh University, edging the visiting Bison on Senior Day.

No. 3 Sheldon Seymour opened the dual with a 16-0 technical fall at 125 pounds, recording a first-period takedown and multiple near-falls that ended the bout in Period 1.

Bucknell responded with early answers. Bryce Manera beat Mason Ziegler 6-0 at 133 (recorded as win type M FOR), and Braden Bower delivered a 4-1 decision at 149 after a third-period 3-point takedown produced the final margin. No. 15 Myles Takats posted a 14-3 major decision at 174 to secure a bonus-point victory for the visitors.

Lehigh pushed back in the middle weights. No. 9 Max Brignola used a string of takedowns to build a lead and won 13-5 by major decision at 165. Rylan Rogers, No. 17, scored a 3-point takedown with 18 seconds left in the third to claim a 4-2 decision at 184. No. 11 Logan Rozynski held a 5-4 decision at 157 after being credited with a +1 in the third.

Bucknell kept the dual alive at 197, where No. 27 Dillon Bechtold defeated Jt Davis in a 1-1 decision after two overtime periods. The bout was tied after regulation and went scoreless through the overtime sessions before Bechtold was awarded the decision.

At heavyweight, No. 10 Nathan Taylor closed the scoring with an 8-5 decision, adding a riding-time point in the third that produced the final margin.

Lehigh hosted Bucknell on Senior Day as part of its final home weekend. The dual featured early bonus scoring, mid-meet major decisions and several late, one-point outcomes that combined to decide the 21-16 result.
