Iowa @ Iowa State Recap
Iowa State topped rival Iowa 20-14 in Ames on November 30, 2025. The Cyclones used a pair of midweight bonus wins to pull away and held on through the upper weights at Hilton Coliseum.
The turning point came in the middle of the lineup when Anthony Echemendia (#7) hammered out a 15-2 major decision over Nasir Bailey (#10) and Vinny Zerban (#6) followed with an 11-3 major over Jordan Williams (#8). Those two majors supplied eight bonus points that flipped the scoreboard in Iowa State’s favor and provided the cushion the Cyclones needed.
Iowa answered with a huge offensive result of its own when Michael Caliendo (#3) ran up a 20-5 technical fall against Connor Euton (#26), delivering five team points and keeping the Hawkeyes within reach. Still, Iowa State’s offense continued to produce, and the Cyclones closed things out at the top end of the lineup.
Freshman Yonger Bastida (#1) delivered a strong 11-4 decision at heavyweight over Ben Kueter (#6) to help seal the dual, and a handful of other ranked matchups kept the score tight throughout. In the end the bonus-point swing from Echemendia and Zerban proved decisive as Iowa State earned the 20-14 victory.
