Sacred Heart @ Harvard Recap
Harvard defeated Sacred Heart 43-3 at Harvard University in Boston on January 20, 2024. The Crimson rolled to a dominant team victory in the dual meet, powered by a string of bonus-point results that put the match out of reach early and never let up.
A major decision at 141 pounds set the tone when Dante Frinzi beat Vincent Milazzo 12-1 for four team points. The middle weights turned into punctuations of dominance for Harvard as Jack Crook’s 23-6 technical fall at 149 and Jimmy Harrington’s 19-4 technical fall at 157 each delivered five team points. At 197 pounds Alex Whitworth closed the stretch with a 15-0 technical fall that sealed the margin and added another five-team-point boost.
The deciding stretch was the run of bonus victories through the middle and upper weights. Harvard collected six technical falls and a major decision in the dual, producing the bulk of its 43 points and leaving Sacred Heart with just three team points for the night. Those back-to-back bonus performances erased any chance for a comeback and turned the dual into a lopsided result fairly quickly.
Harvard’s depth and ability to finish matches was the difference here, while Sacred Heart was limited to a lone scoring result. The Crimson leave Boston with a convincing home win and a clear example of how bonus-point wrestling can determine a dual.
