Oregon State @ Oklahoma State Recap
Oklahoma State defeated Oregon State 27-9 in Stillwater, OK on January 21, 2024, topping the dual by an 18-point margin at Oklahoma State University. The final reflected a clash of bonus-point performances that ultimately decided the meet rather than a string of close decisions.
Oregon State’s biggest moment came at 125 pounds when Brandon Kaylor pinned Troy Spratley, producing six team points and keeping the visitors competitive on the scoreboard. The fall was Oregon State’s clearest highlight and accounted for the majority of its scoring in the dual.
Oklahoma State answered with two bonus wins that swung the match back in the Cowboys’ favor. At 133 pounds Daton Fix overwhelmed Gabe Whisenhunt with a 22-6 technical fall, netting five team points. Later, at 165 pounds Izzak Olejnik turned in a 10-1 major decision over Kekana Fouret for four more team points. Those bonus results—combined with other decisions across the lineup—created the scoring cushion Oklahoma State needed.
In the end the Cowboys’ ability to secure bonus points proved decisive. Kaylor’s pin kept Oregon State in the mix, but Fix’s technical fall and Olejnik’s major decision delivered the extra team points that decided the dual.
