Morgan State @ American Recap
American University posted a 38-10 victory over Morgan State at American University in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 8, 2026. The Eagles pulled away thanks to an abundance of bonus-point wins that turned a competitive dual into a comfortable margin.
Morgan State did snag a big result when Eugene Harney, ranked No. 31, scored a 10-1 major decision over American’s Leo Maestas at 149 pounds. That was one of Morgan State’s few highlights, but American answered with a string of bonus wins that made the difference. Raymond Lopez, ranked No. 24, finished his match by fall at 133 pounds, and Caleb Campos, at 184 pounds and listed at No. 33, also recorded a fall. RJ Robinson added another pin at 197 pounds, and American picked up additional majors elsewhere to keep the pressure on.
Those bonus-point victories were decisive. The three pins produced quick, high-value team points and, combined with American’s majors, created a gap Morgan State could not overcome. The Eagles’ ability to convert a number of matches into falls and major decisions, rather than simple decisions, was the clear factor that decided the dual.
In the end American’s depth and ability to secure bonus points carried the day, leaving Morgan State with a single ranked win but not enough team points to stay close. The 38-10 final reflects how bonus scoring swung this meet decisively in American’s favor.
