STANFORD, Calif. — Stanford beat Cal Poly 43-3 at Burnham Pavilion on Jan. 30, winning nine of 10 bouts and compiling eight bonus-point results that built a decisive margin early and kept Cal Poly from mounting a comeback.

Stanford opened the dual with a pair of ranked victories that set the tone. No. 33 Abraham Wojcikiewicz earned a 14-2 major decision at 184 and No. 14 Angelo Posada followed with a 17-2 technical fall at 197, each adding bonus points that pushed Stanford in front.

Heavyweight Luke Duthie closed the early sequence with a 22-6 technical fall, and Stanford carried that momentum into the lower weights.

No. 11 Nico Provo secured an 11-7 decision at 125, recording takedowns in each period and a riding-time point at the buzzer after Cal Poly’s late third-period takedown narrowed the gap.

No. 8 Tyler Knox recorded a pin at 133, and true freshman Adam Mattin turned a 4-0 deficit into a fall at 141 to extend Stanford’s run of bonus outcomes.

No. 7 Aden Valencia and No. 9 Daniel Cardenas added technical falls in the middle weights, winning 19-4 and 21-6, respectively, as Stanford piled up takedowns and prevented sustained offense from the Mustangs.

EJ Parco capped the scoring with an 11-1 major decision at 165. Cal Poly’s lone victory came at 174, where Cash Stewart rallied with a third-period reversal, added a takedown and a riding-time point to beat Collin Guffey 6-2.

Cal Poly faced six nationally ranked opponents and competed without several regulars in the lineup. Stanford’s win included two falls, four technical falls, two major decisions and one decision that together produced the 43-3 final.

The result improved Stanford’s dual record to 5-6 and dropped Cal Poly to 3-4.
