Hofstra @ George Mason Recap
Hofstra Men's Wrestling beat George Mason Men's Wrestling 25-15 at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA on January 14, 2024. The Pride’s ability to rack up bonus points proved decisive in the dual, creating a margin that George Mason could not overcome despite a big response in the middle weights.
At 133 pounds Dylan Ryder delivered a major decision, downing Shawn Nonaka 9-1 for four team points, and at 149 pounds Noah Tapia finished Kaden Cassidy by fall, adding six more team points for Hofstra. Those two bonus wins accounted for half of Hofstra’s team total and pushed the dual firmly in their favor.
George Mason answered with a high-impact result of their own when Malachi DuVall pinned Will Conlon at 184 pounds, a six-point swing that kept the Patriots within striking distance. DuVall’s fall tightened the score and energized the home crowd, but it came after Hofstra’s earlier bonus surge had already created separation.
In the end Hofstra’s combination of a major and a pin provided the extra points needed to secure a 10-point road victory. With the bonus-point differential the clear deciding factor, Hofstra left Fairfax with a 25-15 win while George Mason showed they could battle back in the middle of the lineup.
