South Dakota State Men's Wrestling beat California Baptist Men's Wrestling 38-3 at California Baptist University in Riverside, Calif., on Jan. 16, 2025. The Jackrabbits piled up bonus points throughout the dual, turning what might have been a close meet into a lopsided victory.

Tanner Jordan’s pin over Kainoa Medina at 125 and Julian Tagg’s 15-0 technical fall at 141 were two of the biggest blows, each delivering maximum impact with a fall and a dominant tech fall. Cade DeVos added another decisive finish with a pin at 174, and Marcus Espinoza-Owens provided a high-scoring 14-4 major decision at 165. Those bonus-point results gave South Dakota State a clear edge on the scoreboard.

The accumulation of bonus points was the turning point. A mix of falls, a technical fall, and majors created a stretch of high-value scoring that the home team could not overcome. South Dakota State’s depth showed up in multiple weight classes, converting chances into extra team points and building a margin that never really invited a comeback.

California Baptist was limited to just three team points on the night, while South Dakota State closed the dual with sustained pressure and efficient finishes. With several men earning bonus results, the Jackrabbits left Riverside with a comprehensive 38-3 road victory.
