Stanford @ Princeton Recap
Stanford Men's Wrestling Team edged Princeton Men's Wrestling 20-17 at Jadwin Gymnasium in Princeton, NJ on February 14, 2025. The tight dual came down to bonus points in the upper weights, with Stanford's pair of major decisions providing the margin of victory over a gritty Princeton lineup.
Princeton's biggest moment came at 184 pounds, where Kole Mulhauser dominated Tye Monteiro, running up a 17-2 technical fall that delivered five team points and kept the hosts very much in the match. Mulhauser’s tech fall was one of the meet’s most decisive results and pulled Princeton within striking distance late.
Stanford answered with two crucial bonus wins. At 197 pounds, Nikolas Stemmet turned in an 11-2 major decision over Luke Stout for four team points, and the Cardinal picked up another 11-2 major at heavyweight when Peter Ming defeated Sebastian Garibaldi for four more points. Those two major decisions supplied the eight bonus points that ultimately separated the teams in the final tally.
With the dual decided by a small margin, bonus-point production in the upper classes proved decisive. Princeton’s tech fall highlighted their strength in the middle weights, but Stanford’s ability to grind out majors at 197 and 285 closed the gap and left the Cardinal with a three-point road win.
