American @ Drexel Recap
Drexel defeated American 32-6 at Drexel University in Philadelphia on January 31, 2025. The Dragons piled up bonus points throughout the dual, turning what might have been a close meet into a comfortable 26-point victory.
Desmond Pleasant supplied one of the early big blows with an 11-2 major decision over Coen Bainey at 125 pounds, a four-team-point result that put pressure on American. Jordan Soriano then recorded a fall at 141 pounds, a six-team-point win that significantly widened Drexel’s margin. Jasiah Queen’s 13-3 major decision at 174 pounds added another four points, and Giuseppe Hoose sealed matters with a fall at 184 pounds for six more bonus points.
Those four bonus-point victories were decisive. The combination of two pins and two majors produced 20 team points and created a run that American could not recover from, leaving Drexel with a sizeable lead that carried through the rest of the dual.
American was unable to counter with matching bonus results, and Drexel’s ability to convert important matches into extra points was the difference-maker on the night. The final 32-6 scoreline reflected Drexel’s emphasis on bonus scoring in the key bouts.
