Michigan State edged Wisconsin 22-15 in East Lansing, MI on January 26, 2024, picking up a seven-point dual meet victory at Michigan State University. The Spartans’ bonus-point production proved to be the deciding factor in a tight Big Ten matchup.

Three bonus wins accounted for the bulk of Michigan State’s team total. At 157 pounds Chase Saldate pinned Luke Mechler for a fall, worth 6 team points. At 197 pounds Kael Wisler downed Josh Otto 9-1 by major decision, adding 4 team points. Up at heavyweight, Josh Terrill pinned Gannon Rosenfeld for another 6 team points. Those three results delivered 16 bonus points and swung the dual in Michigan State’s favor.

Wisconsin kept several bouts close, but the Badgers could not overcome the Spartans’ bonus scoring. Terrill’s pin in the heavyweight ranks ultimately put the meet out of reach after Wisler’s dominant major and Saldate’s fall had created separation.
