Kent State used a burst of bonus-point wrestling to down Chattanooga 28-12 in Kent, Ohio on December 19, 2025. The Golden Flashes collected multiple high-value wins to pull away from the Mocs and secure a 16-point margin in the dual.

The deciding factor was Kent State’s string of bonus victories. At 149 pounds Silas Stits recorded a fall over Will Anderson for six team points, and the Golden Flashes added two more pins as Chris Earnest pinned Mason Reiniche at 165 and Ethan Barr pinned Kamdyn Munro at 174. Those falls created a gap that Chattanooga could not erase. Blake Schaffer also chipped in a 14-6 major decision at 197, adding four more team points and further insulating Kent State’s lead.

Chattanooga managed to pick up points elsewhere, but Kent State’s emphasis on bonus scoring proved decisive. The combination of three falls and a major decision swung the scoreboard in favor of the Golden Flashes and kept the dual out of reach down the stretch. Final score: Kent State (MAC) 28, Chattanooga (SoCon) 12.
