Illinois @ Missouri Recap
Illinois knocked off Missouri 21-16 in Columbia, November 24, 2025, at the University of Missouri. The dual came down to bonus points, with Illinois' majors and a key ranked decision creating the margin in a tight matchup between Big Ten and Big 12 competition.
Illinois collected three major decisions that supplied the backbone of its bonus scoring. Braeden Scoles, ranked #9, rolled to a 17-4 major over Dominic Bambinelli for four team points, Colin Kelly picked up an 11-2 major for four more, and #9 heavyweight Luke Luffman closed with a 13-3 major against #25 Jarrett Stoner. Kannon Webster, the Illini’s #7 at 157, added a gritty 4-1 decision over J Conway for three points. Those four results accounted for 15 of Illinois’ 21 team points.
Missouri kept the dual close through a pair of big individual efforts. At 125, Mack Mauger, ranked #17, upset #18 Spencer Moore 5-2 by decision to snag three points, and #15 Evan Bates delivered a 14-6 major decision over #24 Cade Lautt for four team points. Those performances produced seven of Missouri’s 16 points and swung momentum at times during the meet.
Ultimately the bonus-point swing was the deciding factor. Missouri’s decision and major made it a one-score dual, but Illinois’ trio of majors combined with Webster’s ranked decision created a gap Missouri could not erase, leaving the Tigers five points short in Columbia.
