Wyoming @ North Dakota State Recap
Wyoming left Fargo with a 27-12 dual win over North Dakota State at North Dakota State University on January 31, 2025. The Cowboys’ collection of bonus-point victories proved decisive in a meet where a few high-scoring results separated the teams.
The turning point came across three bouts when Wyoming piled up bonus points. Cole Brooks recorded a fall at 141 pounds for six team points, Eddie Neitenbach ripped off a 15-0 technical fall at 184 for five points, and Joey Novak added a 9-1 major decision at 197 for four more. Those three finishes combined for 15 team points and created the margin Wyoming needed to control the score.
North Dakota State answered with its own big wins, but they were not enough. Kyle Burwick dominated at 133 with a 15-0 technical fall for five team points, and Gavin Drexler picked up a 13-2 major decision at 149 for four team points. Those bonus results kept the Bison competitive but fell short of erasing Wyoming’s run of bonus scoring.
In the end, bonus-point finishes decided the dual. Wyoming’s three bonus victories in the 141, 184 and 197 bouts provided the cushion, while NDSU’s tech fall and major supplied resistance that couldn’t bridge the gap. The 27-12 final reflected which team secured the big-match bonuses on the night.
