Lehigh knocked off Army West Point 21-16 in West Point, N.Y., on Feb. 4, 2024, picking up a road victory in a tight EIWA dual.

Army supplied most of the bonus-point production on paper, as Conor Collins dominated at 133 with a 16-1 technical fall (5 team points) and Dalton Harkins (165) and Ben Pasiuk (174) each added majors, 12-2 and 16-6 respectively (4 points apiece). Those three bonus results accounted for 13 team points and kept Army firmly in contention throughout the match.

Lehigh’s comeback hinged on two high-impact bonus wins in the upper weights. Michael Beard blew past Wolfgang Frable 20-2 by technical fall at 197 for five points, and Nathan Taylor closed things with a 15-3 major at 285 for four more. Those two results delivered nine big points and represented the decisive swing that allowed Lehigh to overcome Army’s earlier bonus haul.

Beyond those bonus bouts, Lehigh picked up enough decisions in the other weight classes to finish with 21 points. Army’s trio of bonus wins made this a close dual, but Beard’s technical fall and Taylor’s major proved to be the difference in a 21-16 final.
