Air Force @ CSU Bakersfield Recap
Air Force topped CSU Bakersfield 28-12 in Bakersfield, Calif., on Feb. 9, 2025, handing the Roadrunners their defeat in the dual meet. The margin was built almost entirely on bonus-point victories that swung the score well in Air Force’s favor.
A stretch of four bonus wins accounted for 22 of Air Force’s 28 team points. Gavin Caprella recorded a fall at 133 pounds, Brian Burburija finished with a fall at 197, and two dominant tech falls came from EJ Beloncik (18-1 at 157) and Jack Ganos (15-0 at 174). Those results included two pins and two technical falls, giving Air Force a clear scoring edge.
Beloncik and Ganos were particularly decisive, each ending matches by technical fall and limiting CSU Bakersfield’s chances to rack up bonus points of their own. Caprella’s and Burburija’s pins provided the heavy teamscore impact, turning individual victories into multi-point swings that Bakerfield could not overcome.
CSU Bakersfield collected 12 team points across the other bouts, but the four bonus outcomes by Air Force proved the difference. The Falcons leave Bakersfield with the 16-point road victory after a meeting defined by high-value wins rather than a string of close decisions.
