Michigan @ Penn State Recap

Penn State shut out Michigan 39-0 at the Bryce Jordan Center in State College on February 7, 2025, handing the Wolverines a blanking in the Big Ten dual. The Nittany Lions collected an unusually high number of bonus points, and those extra-team points made the difference in a one-sided scoring sheet.

Luke Lilledahl’s fall over Christian Tanefeu delivered six team points and was one of two pins that swung momentum emphatically toward Penn State. Levi Haines also finished by fall against Joseph Walker, adding another six-team-point bonus and underscoring Penn State’s ability to close out matches.

Mitchell Mesenbrink turned in an 18-4 major decision over Beau Mantanona, tacking on four bonus points, while Carter Starocci dominated Jaden Bullock with a 19-4 technical fall for five more. Between the major and the tech fall, Penn State picked up nine additional bonus points in the higher weights, widening the margin quickly and decisively.

All told, the four bonus victories accounted for 21 of Penn State’s 39 team points and effectively decided the dual. Michigan was unable to answer with any bonus or comeback wins, and Penn State’s combination of pins and bonus decisions left no opportunity for a late surge as the host team recorded a comprehensive conference victory.
