Binghamton @ Drexel Recap

Drexel topped Binghamton 23-10 in a nonconference dual at Drexel University in Philadelphia on January 18, 2025. The Dragons collected the margin they needed through bonus-point victories in the upper weights, while Binghamton fought back late with a big result at heavyweight.

The two biggest swings came from Drexel at 174 and 197. Jasiah Queen put up a 13-4 major decision at 174, and Ibrahim Ameer followed with a 13-2 major at 197. Those two majors alone supplied eight bonus points and gave Drexel a clear scoring edge in the middle of the lineup.

Binghamton’s highlight was Cory Day’s 9-0 major decision at 285, a four-point response that kept the Bearcats within striking distance and salvaged team points in the late going. Day’s dominant outing at heavyweight prevented the score from getting out of hand and showcased Binghamton’s strength in the upper class.

In the end Drexel’s pair of major decisions proved decisive; combined with other bouts that went Drexel’s way, they finished with 23 points to Binghamton’s 10. The two major victories in the 170s and 190s created the separation the Dragons needed, while Binghamton’s heavyweight major was the key counterpunch that kept the dual competitive.
