Michigan @ Virginia Recap
Michigan left Charlottesville with a 29-12 dual victory over Virginia on Nov. 25, 2024, at the University of Virginia. The Wolverines accumulated enough bonus points across the lineup to pull away for a 17-point final margin.
What decided the meet was Michigan’s collection of bonus-point wins. Dylan Ragusin delivered a major decision, beating Gable Porter 11-1, and Sergio Lemley turned his match into a runaway with a 16-1 technical fall. Jacob Cardenas capped the stretch in dominant fashion, posting an 18-1 technical fall that helped put the dual out of reach.
Virginia did grab a match-changing result of its own when Jack Gioffre ran up a 17-2 technical fall at 149 pounds, and Keyveon Roller also scored a major decision in the lower weights. Those bonus victories kept the Cavaliers competitive on the scoreboard, but they were matched and then overtaken by Michigan’s string of high-scoring finishes.
In the end Michigan’s ability to turn several bouts into majors and technical falls produced the decisive scoring swing. The Wolverines’ depth and bonus-point production across the middle and upper weights proved to be the difference in Charlottesville, 29-12.
