Central Michigan beats Michigan State 19-15 as bonus points decide dual

Nick Blackburn’s 9-1 major and No. 21 Chandler Amaker’s overtime pin supplied the bonus points that gave Central Michigan a 19-15 win at Jenison Field House.

EAST LANSING, Mich., Feb. 21, 2026 — Central Michigan defeated Michigan State 19-15 at Jenison Field House, with two bonus-point victories providing the decisive margin in a 5-5 split of the dual.

Central Michigan’s Nick Blackburn earned a 9-1 major decision at 141 and No. 21 Chandler Amaker pinned DJ Shannon at 165 in the first tiebreaker, the pin coming with roughly six seconds remaining in that period. Those two bonus scores created the gap in a meet that otherwise featured five wins apiece.

Mason Shrader, listed at No. 24 at 157, delivered a late takedown with 17 seconds remaining and won 10-7, another key result for Central Michigan. The official bout summaries show the final team score as 19-15.

Michigan State’s winners included Nick Corday, who held on for a 10-8 decision at 125, and Josh Terrill, who prevailed 4-2 at heavyweight after a three-point takedown early in the first period. Kael Wisler of Michigan State, listed at No. 22 at 197, edged Luke Cochran 3-2 after multiple overtime periods.

Other matches that factored into the dual score saw Evan Gosz secure a 4-1 decision at 149 for Michigan State and Connor O’Neill record a 2-0 decision at 174.

School recaps and conference accounts emphasized that bonus points — Blackburn’s major and Amaker’s pin — decided the outcome. Michigan State held a senior-night ceremony before the meet; the home program reported finishing the dual portion of its schedule with a 4-10 record while Central Michigan improved to 10-6.

Bout play-by-play logs supplied with the event record note a small number of scoring-entry discrepancies versus the official final scores for a few individual matches; those differences do not change the official bout winners or the 19-15 team final used here.
