Lock Haven @ Rutgers Recap
Rutgers cruised to a 34-6 victory over Lock Haven on December 6, 2024, at the Scarlet Knights in Piscataway, NJ, winning by 28 points. The Scarlet Knights piled up bonus points throughout the lineup and never allowed the dual to tighten.
Two technical falls provided a big chunk of Rutgers’ margin. At 125 pounds Dean Peterson recorded a 20-5 technical fall for five team points, and at 141 Joseph Olivieri followed with a 19-3 technical fall, also worth five. Those decisive outscores forced Lock Haven to chase bonus to keep pace.
The match was put away by two falls in the upper weights. Brian Soldano’s pin at 197 accounted for six team points, and Yaraslau Slavikouski’s fall at heavyweight added another six. Those pins in the heavier classes left Lock Haven with too large a deficit to overcome and served as the clear turning point that decided the dual.
Bonus-point victories accounted for 22 of Rutgers’ 34 team points, underscoring the Scarlet Knights’ ability to finish matches. Lock Haven finished with six team points but could not match the bonus production. Rutgers’ combination of technical falls and pins made the difference on this night in Piscataway.
