Rutgers knocked off Purdue 26-13 in West Lafayette on January 14, 2024, picking up a road dual win at Purdue University. The Scarlet Knights built their margin with multiple bonus-point victories that Purdue could not overcome.

Dylan Shawver’s dominant technical fall at 133 pounds (20-5) put Rutgers on the scoreboard in emphatic fashion and delivered five team points. Jackson Turley’s fall at 174 pounds was the biggest single swing, a pin that produced six more team points and swung momentum firmly toward Rutgers. John Poznanski added another technical fall at 197 pounds, 18-3, which further widened the gap and undermined Purdue’s comeback chances.

Purdue’s Joey Blaze answered with a major decision at 157 pounds, 12-4, a four-point haul that kept the Boilers within reach and showed the dual was still contestable. In the heavyweight slot, Yaraslau Slavikouski closed things out for Rutgers with a 14-3 major decision, icing four critical team points that helped secure the 13-point margin.

In the end Rutgers’ string of bonus-point wins — two technical falls, a fall, and a late major — decided the dual. Purdue picked up a key major to fight back, but Rutgers’ ability to finish bouts with bonus saved the day and produced the 26-13 victory.
