Michigan State @ Central Michigan

Central Michigan edged Michigan State 22-12 in Mt. Pleasant on February 21, 2025, as a string of bonus-point victories swung the dual in the Chippewas favor. The scoreline reflected more than a few close bouts; Central Michigan accumulated extra team points at key weights to pull away.

Mason Shrader’s 149-pound performance was the most emphatic individual result. Shrader rolled to an 18-3 technical fall over Clayton Jones, delivering five team points and punctuating Central Michigan’s attack with a major bonus that Michigan State could not negate.

Sean Spidle at 133 pounds and Alex Cramer at 174 pounds supplied the remaining bonus margin. Spidle posted a 10-0 major decision over Andy Hampton and Cramer followed with an 8-0 major over Ceasar Garza. Those two majors contributed eight more team points and, combined with Shrader’s tech fall, accounted for a decisive portion of Central Michigan’s 22 total points.

Michigan State picked up points in other matches to reach 12, but the Chippewas’ bonus-point stretch created the separation. In the end Central Michigan’s ability to convert opportunities into majors and a technical fall was the clear difference in the dual at Central Michigan University.
