LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — No. 17 West Virginia defeated Lock Haven 21-15 on Feb. 22, 2026, at Thomas Fieldhouse in the Mountaineers’ regular-season finale.
No. 15 Gunner Andrick opened the scoring for West Virginia with a first-period takedown at the 78-second mark and finished the 133-pound bout by fall, an early bonus that set the tone for the visitors.
Ty Watters later delivered one of the meet’s biggest margins, posting a 20-4 technical fall after recording takedowns in each period and a late riding-time point to reach the 16-point threshold.
Lock Haven countered with several key decisions that kept the dual close. No. 31 Avery Bassett upset No. 17 Brody Conley at 174, using takedowns and escapes across three periods to build a 12-5 decision.
Wyatt Henson’s 5-0 decision at 141 was a late-period affair: the bout was scoreless through two periods before Henson added an escape, a takedown and a riding-time point in the third. Regional coverage noted that result as Henson’s 100th career win.
The heavyweight bout went to West Virginia’s Brock Kehler, who escaped in the third to tie the match 1-1 and then converted a 3-point takedown 28 seconds into the first sudden-victory overtime to secure a 4-1 decision.
Several other close matches factored into the final margin. Lucas Kapusta won 6-5 at 149 by scoring the sudden-victory point after a stalling call on Willie McDougald. Cole Evans posted a 9-0 major decision at 157, scoring a reversal and adding a takedown and nearfall in the closing period while earning a riding-time point.
Those bonus victories for West Virginia, combined with Kehler’s overtime finish, offset Lock Haven’s narrow decisions and Bassett’s upset to produce the 21-15 final.
