Indiana @ Purdue Recap
Indiana edged Purdue 25-11 in West Lafayette on Jan. 17, 2025, picking up a Big Ten dual at Purdue University. The Hoosiers collected the bonus points that decided the meet, while Purdue stayed competitive with two major decisions of its own.
Angelo Rini’s 133-pound technical fall, a 20-5 win, was one of the biggest swings of the night for Indiana, worth five team points. Donnell Washington matched that impact at 184 pounds with a 19-4 technical fall for another five-point bonus. Those two tech falls accounted for half of Indiana’s scoring and proved pivotal in separating the teams.
Purdue countered with strong showings from Matt Ramos at 125 pounds and Joey Blaze at 157 pounds, each posting 11-2 major decisions for four team points apiece. Those majors kept Purdue within striking distance, but they were not enough to overcome Indiana’s double tech fall night.
In the end Indiana’s bonus-point production made the difference in a 25-11 final. The meet was defined by a handful of high-scoring bonus outcomes rather than a string of close decisions, with Rini and Washington’s technical falls delivering the margin that Purdue’s two majors could not erase.
