Northern Colorado @ Wyoming Recap
Wyoming Men's Wrestling defeated Northern Colorado Men's Wrestling 26-9 in Laramie, Wyoming on February 16, 2025. The Cowboys' ability to collect bonus points proved decisive in the Big 12 dual, leaving Northern Colorado short despite a big moment of their own.
Northern Colorado’s highlight came at 133 pounds, where Dominick Serrano pinned Stockton O`brien to earn six team points and one of the night's most memorable finishes. Serrano’s fall gave the Bears a surge of momentum and a crucial chunk of the team score.
Wyoming answered with the two bonus wins that decided the meet. At 184 pounds Eddie Neitenbach put together a 15-3 major decision over AJ Heeg, and at 197 Joey Novak followed with a 16-2 major decision over Andrew Donahue. Those two majors supplied eight team points and created the separation Wyoming needed to control the scoreboard.
In the end the combination of Serrano’s pin for Northern Colorado and Wyoming’s bonus-point production left the final margin at 17 points. The individual bonus victories were the difference in a dual where a single pin and a pair of majors told most of the story.
