Nebraska @ Penn State Recap
Penn State Men's Wrestling defeated Nebraska Men's Wrestling 22-13 in Pennsylvania on February 18, 2024, in a Big Ten dual. The Nittany Lions pulled away thanks to multiple bonus-point victories that outweighed a strong major decision by Nebraska at 125 pounds.
Penn State’s offensive surge came largely through bonus scoring. Carter Starocci’s 20-4 technical fall at 174 delivered five team points, while Aaron Brooks added a 17-4 major decision at the same weight for four more. Up at heavyweight, Greg Kerkvliet added a 10-0 major decision, and those three bonus wins together provided 13 team points that proved decisive in the final margin.
Nebraska’s biggest highlight was Caleb Smith’s 11-3 major decision over Braeden Davis at 125, a four-point swing that kept the Cornhuskers competitive. Even with that result, Penn State’s ability to convert multiple matches into bonus points separated the teams and produced the nine-point victory for the hosts.
