Iowa State picked up a 27-14 dual meet win over Northern Iowa at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa on February 11, 2024. The Cyclones’ ability to convert big matches into bonus points created a gap Northern Iowa could not overcome.

Iowa State totaled multiple technical falls that supplied the bulk of the team scoring. Evan Frost slammed Julian Farber 19-4 by technical fall at 133 pounds, and David Carr rolled to a 20-3 technical fall at 165, each worth five team points. Those high-scoring wins put heavy pressure on Northern Iowa’s lineup and helped build an early cushion.

Northern Iowa answered through Parker Keckeisen, who delivered a 21-6 technical fall at 184 to swing five points back to the Panthers and keep the dual competitive. That performance was one of Northern Iowa’s biggest single-bout contributions, but it would not be enough by itself.

Yonger Bastida closed the scoring for Iowa State with a 25-6 technical fall at 285, another five-point bonus that effectively sealed the margin. In the end, Iowa State’s accumulation of bonus-point victories — including multiple technical falls — proved decisive in the 27-14 final.
