Ohio State @ Michigan Recap

Ohio State knocked off Michigan 25-14 at the Bahna Wrestling Center in Ann Arbor on Feb. 1, 2025. The Buckeyes collected the kind of bonus-point wins that decide duals, while Michigan picked up a couple of big decisions in response but could not overcome Ohio State’s surge.

Ohio State rolled up multiple bonus-point victories, most notably Nic Bouzakis’ 18-3 technical fall at 133 and Brendan McCrone’s 12-3 major decision at 125. Jesse Mendez added another major at 141, and those high-scoring results built a cushion that forced Michigan into playmaking mode later in the lineup.

The clearest turning point came when Ryder Rogotzke finished by fall at 184, a six-team-point swing that put the Buckeyes well out front and swung momentum firmly in Ohio State’s favor. That pin, combined with the technical fall and majors, supplied the bulk of Ohio State’s scoring and left Michigan little room to recover.

Michigan answered with two strong bonus victories of its own: Chase Saldate’s 8-0 major at 157 and Jacob Cardenas’ 11-2 major at 197, both hard-fought efforts that kept the Wolverines competitive late. In the end the Buckeyes’ string of bonus results was the difference, producing a decisive 25-14 road win for Ohio State.
