Princeton @ Clarion Recap
Princeton rolled into Clarion University on January 19, 2025 and left with a 43-3 dual victory over Clarion, a one-day display of bonus-point wrestling in Clarion, PA. The Tigers piled up bonus points across the lineup and never allowed the match to tighten.
Marc-Anthony McGowan’s fall over Travis Clawson was one of the most decisive moments, a pin that delivered six team points and swung momentum firmly toward Princeton. At 149 pounds Ty Whalen backed that up with a 17-2 technical fall over Kyle Schickel, adding another big chunk of team scoring and keeping Clarion on the ropes.
Princeton’s upperweights continued the onslaught. Xavier Giles recorded a 16-1 technical fall at 174 and Luke Stout closed out the notable run with a 17-1 technical fall at 197, each worth five team points. Those tech falls, combined with major decisions by Jacob Mann (8-0 at 157) and Blaine Bergey (12-4 at 165), turned a competitive dual into a rout as the Tigers accumulated consecutive bonus wins.
Clarion was held to just three team points as Princeton’s string of pins, techs and majors decided the outcome well before the final whistle. The 40-point margin reflected not only a handful of standout individual performances but a consistent stretch of bonus-point wrestling that decided this dual.
