Drexel @ Army West Point Recap
Army West Point hosted Drexel on January 14, 2024, and Army Men's Wrestling came away with a 26-9 dual victory in West Point, NY. The margin was driven not by a string of one-point decisions but by a handful of bonus-point outcomes that tilted the team score firmly in Army's favor.
Three decisive bouts accounted for the bulk of the difference. At 157 pounds Nate Lukez turned in a shutout, beating Tyler Williams 8-0 by major decision for four team points. At 174 pounds Ben Pasiuk delivered a fall, grabbing six team points and adding an immediate swing to the scoreboard. At 197 pounds Wolfgang Frable produced an 18-5 major decision, another four-team-point bonus that extended Army’s lead.
Those bonus-point victories combined for 14 of Army’s 26 team points and were the clear turning point in the dual. Drexel put up nine team points overall but could not match the magnitude of Army’s bonus wins. Individually, Lukez’s control, Pasiuk’s pin, and Frable’s high-scoring major highlighted the weight classes where Army created separation.
In conference terms this was a notable winning day for Army in an EIWA matchup at home. The dual came down to a few decisive outcomes rather than a broad sweep, and those bonus results were the difference in a 26-9 final.
