Bucknell vs Brown Recap

Bucknell edged Brown 30-12 in the dual at Davis Gym in Lewisburg, Pa., on February 17, 2024. The final margin was built not on a string of narrow decisions but on Bucknell picking up multiple bonus-point wins in the heavier weights while Brown collected a handful of majors earlier on.

Brown punched back with a trio of major decisions that kept the meet competitive. Michael Joyce powered an 8-0 major over Kade Davidheiser at 125 pounds, and Jonathan Conrad turned in an 11-1 major at 174; Blake Saito also recorded a major at 157 to help Brown reach 12 team points.

The decisive stretch came from Bucknell’s big finishes. Mikey Bartush put Bucknell ahead with a fall at 184, a takeover that swung the scoreboard and momentum. Behind him, Logan Deacetis closed out a 17-2 technical fall at 197, and Dorian Crosby sealed the dual with a fall at heavyweight. Those bonus results — a pin, a tech fall, and another pin — supplied the bulk of Bucknell’s points and created the separation Brown couldn’t overcome.

Bucknell’s ability to earn bonus points in the upper weights turned a tight matchup into an 18-point win, while Brown’s majors proved valuable but ultimately insufficient to counter Bucknell’s late burst of bonus scoring.
