No. 5 Oklahoma State wins 33-3 at No. 18 Missouri behind three bonus-point bouts

Oklahoma State used a major decision, a technical fall and a pin in the opening bouts to build a decisive lead in a 33-3 road win Friday at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Mo.

COLUMBIA, Mo. — No. 5 Oklahoma State beat No. 18 Missouri 33-3 on Friday night at the Hearnes Center, taking control early with three bonus-point wins that the Tigers could not recover from.

Oklahoma State opened with a 19-5 major decision by No. 8 Troy Spratley at 125 and followed with a 16-1 technical fall from No. 9 Jax Forrest at 133. No. 2 Sergio Vega recorded a first-period takedown and finished Easton Hilton by fall at 141, a pin that the team recap said effectively sealed the dual.

Transcript entries show Vega’s takedown occurred with 97 seconds on the clock in the opening period, and Spratley’s margin included multiple takedowns, two opponent penalties and a riding-time point at the buzzer.

Missouri’s lone victory came at 184, where No. 3 Aeoden Sinclair scored a third-period takedown to beat No. 8 Zack Ryder, 4-1, preventing a shutout.

The remainder of the lineup produced a string of low-margin decisions that kept the score from narrowing. Landon Robideau (No. 6) won 4-0 at 157, LaDarion Lockett (No. 2 at 165) edged J Conway 4-2, Alex Facundo (No. 7) defeated Cam Steed (No. 10) 2-1 at 174, Cody Merrill (No. 7) topped Evan Bates (No. 10) 4-0 at 197, and Konner Doucet (No. 7) closed the dual with a 4-1 decision at 285. Those results, together with the three bonus-point bouts, produced the 33-3 final.

Team reports noted Oklahoma State won nine of 10 bouts and that the Cowboys improved to 10-1 overall and 5-0 in Big 12 duals with the road victory. Missouri fell to 8-7 and 2-2 in conference play.

The dual featured several ranked-versus-ranked matchups that favored Oklahoma State. Spratley’s major decision came against a ranked opponent and Forrest’s technical fall was over a ranked Missouri starter; Vega’s pin supplied the maximum team points in the early sequence.

Missouri will return to Hearnes Center competition Sunday against Northern Colorado, while Oklahoma State is scheduled for a weekend doubleheader, according to team releases.
