Gannon’s Patrick Jackson delivered a big response at 174 pounds, pinning Waylon Wehler to earn six points for the visitors. Back on Kent State’s side, Trent Thomas earned a 12-3 major decision at 184 pounds, and Blake Schaffer closed out the high-impact finishes with a fall over Shane Davidson at 197 pounds.

Those bonus-point victories were ultimately what decided the dual. Kent State’s two majors and a pin supplied the extra points needed to withstand Jackson’s fall and the other Gannon contributions. With the bonus scoring, Kent State built enough separation to finish 23-15, handing Gannon its loss while highlighting both teams’ ability to score bonus points in tight regional-level competition.
