Northern Iowa @ North Dakota State

Northern Iowa defeated North Dakota State 33-6 at North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND on February 8, 2025. The Panthers piled up bonus points to build a commanding lead and never let the Bison back into the match.

The decisive factor was Northern Iowa’s barrage of bonus-point victories. Colin Realbuto’s 24-9 technical fall at 149 pounds and Jared Simma’s 17-2 technical fall at 174 provided a big chunk of the early cushion. Parker Keckeisen and Wyatt Voelker added back-to-back technical falls at 184 and 197, respectively, each worth five team points and effectively putting the dual out of reach.

Lance Runyon closed the margin further at heavyweight with a 10-1 major decision to cap the scoring and secure the 27-point win for Northern Iowa. Those four technical falls plus the major accounted for the bulk of Northern Iowa’s team total and kept North Dakota State limited to just six points on the night.

Northern Iowa’s bonus-point production was the clear turning point; the Panthers converted several dominant individual performances into an insurmountable team lead and left Fargo with a comfortable dual victory on February 8.
