Davidson @ The Citadel

The Citadel handled host Davidson 36-7 in a Southern Conference dual at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., on Feb. 11, 2024. The Bulldogs put the dual out of reach with multiple bonus-point wins, building a margin that Davidson could not overcome.

A trio of bonus finishes from The Citadel proved decisive. George Rosas dominated at 133 pounds, rolling to a 17-1 technical fall for five team points, and Jacob Silka followed with a pin at 141 for six more. Ben Stemmet closed things out at heavyweight with a fall that added another six points, giving The Citadel a heavy chunk of its scoring through bonus victories.

Davidson’s brightest moment came at 184 pounds, where Wyatt Ferguson notched a 12-2 major decision for four team points, but that effort was isolated. Citadel also picked up a major decision at 197 from Patrick Brophy, further padding the lead and leaving Davidson with too much ground to make up.

The combination of tech fall and pins on The Citadel side was the clear turning point. Those bonus wins, paired with a big margin on the scoreboard, swung the dual firmly toward the Bulldogs and left Davidson searching for consistent finishes. The result reflected The Citadel’s ability to turn dominant individual performances into team points across multiple weights.
