Duke @ Appalachian State Recap

Appalachian State beat Duke 45-5 in Boone, North Carolina on January 20, 2025, dominating the dual with a string of bonus-point wins that decided the meet.

The middle weights turned into a run for the Mountaineers. Aldo Hernandez recorded a 19-1 technical fall at 141 pounds and Kaden Keiser closed a stretch with a fall at 149 pounds, while Will Miller added a 19-4 technical fall at 165 pounds. Those bonus victories, along with other majors and falls, produced the margin that put the dual out of reach for Duke.

Duke’s lone bright spot came at heavyweight where Connor Barket answered with a 15-0 technical fall over Stephan Monchery to pick up five team points. Aside from that result, Duke could not overcome Appalachian State’s collection of majors, technical falls, and pins across the lineup.

Appalachian State’s depth and bonus-point production made the difference, turning several individual dominant performances into a convincing 45-5 road victory in Boone.
