Iowa State blanks Northern Colorado 42-0
Cyclones collected multiple bonus-point wins and swept all 10 weights in a shutout at Hilton Coliseum.
AMES, Iowa — Iowa State blanked Northern Colorado 42-0 on Jan. 23, 2026, collecting victories at all 10 weights and finishing with several bonus-point results.
The Cyclones opened the dual with a 125-pound pin from No. 12 Stevo Poulin, who scored a 3-point takedown with 76 seconds left in the first period and followed with the fall to deliver six team points.
No. 4 Evan Frost won a top-ranked matchup at 133 pounds, beating No. 12 Dominick Serrano 7-1. Serrano took a 1-0 lead with an escape in the second, but Frost answered with a takedown with 7 seconds left in the period, added an escape early in the third and closed with a takedown at the period buzzer.
Iowa State piled up bonus points through the middle weights. No. 4 Anthony Echemendia ended his bout at 141 by technical fall, 21-6. No. 7 Jacob Frost followed with a 19-4 technical fall at 149, and No. 8 Vinny Zerban recorded an 18-3 technical fall at 157. At 165, No. 13 Connor Euton earned a 19-7 major decision, adding to the run of extra-point results.
The heavyweight bout closed the dual as Yonger Bastida, the nation’s No. 1 at 285, finished with a 21-6 technical fall to cap the shutout.
Iowa State’s depth and ability to finish matches produced the insurmountable margin. The home-coverage notes and team release report six bonus-point victories and a 35-1 advantage in takedowns, and the head coach recorded his 100th dual victory with the win.
