Navy @ Iowa State Recap
Iowa State Men's Wrestling beat Navy Men's Wrestling 29-9 at Iowa State University in Ames, IA on November 15, 2024. The Cyclones piled up bonus points throughout the lineup to build a decisive margin and never trailed in the dual.
Several dominant performances provided the difference. At 149 pounds Anthony Echemendia finished with a 22-7 technical fall that added five team points, and 165-pounder Connor Euton followed with a 20-5 technical fall for another five. Up front at 285 pounds Daniel Herrera closed out the night with a 23-6 technical fall to salt away an extra five points in the heavyweight slots. Adrian Meza’s 19-7 major decision at 125 pounds also supplied key bonus points for Iowa State.
That run of bonus-point wins — three technical falls and a major decision among them — created the separation Navy could not overcome. While Navy had competitive bouts in other weight classes, they were not able to match Iowa State’s extra-point production, and the Cyclones’ succession of bonus results turned what might have been a tight contest into a comfortable team victory.
Iowa State leaves Ames with a clear team win thanks to those high-scoring individual efforts, and Navy will look to limit bonus concessions in future duals if they hope to close similar gaps.
