Maryland topped Michigan State 28-15 in College Park on February 11, 2024, handing the Spartans a 13-point defeat in the Big Ten dual meet.

The Terps piled up bonus points to produce the margin. Braxton Brown ripped off a 16-0 technical fall at 133 pounds and Ethen Miller followed with a 17-0 technical fall at 149, each worth five team points. Jaxon Smith added another technical fall at 197 with an 18-2 win, and heavyweight Seth Nevills closed his match with a 12-0 major decision, all of which gave Maryland a sizable boost.

Michigan State answered with two big bonus victories of its own, keeping the dual competitive. Caleb Fish notched a 14-0 major decision at 165 and Layne Malczewski recorded a 15-0 technical fall at 184, combining for nine team points and showing Spartan firepower in the middle weights.

Ultimately Maryland’s depth in bonus-point wins decided the dual. The Terps’ three technical falls and a major turned routine bouts into five-point swings that Michigan State’s pair of bonus wins could not overcome, resulting in the 28-15 final margin.
