Cal Poly’s bonus-point surge buries Morgan State, 37-15

Three technical falls and a late pin turned a tight middle stanza into a comfortable home win for the Mustangs in San Luis Obispo.

Cal Poly turned a run of bonus-point finishes into separation and closed out a 37-15 victory over Morgan State in its final home dual of the season in San Luis Obispo.

No. 21 Koda Holeman set the tone at 125 with a 20-5 technical fall. Holeman added a third-period takedown with 25 seconds remaining and tacked on riding time to finish the match and deliver five team points.

Anthony Lucio stretched the lead with a 12-2 major decision at 133. Morgan State answered when Shawn Ryncarz was awarded a forfeit at 141 and No. 32 Eugene Harney turned a late 149-pound bout into a momentum swing, securing a third-period takedown at the 0:06 mark and completing the pin.

Cal Poly quelled the surge with back-to-back technical falls. No. 33 Jagger French rolled to a 21-3 technical fall at 157 and Anthony Berg followed with a 21-3 technical fall at 165, putting the Mustangs back in firm control of the dual.

Morgan State’s Cort Vann kept the Bears alive with an 8-6 decision at 174, but Cal Poly closed the dual with upper-weight bonus scoring: forfeits at 184 and 285 and Cole Jackson’s pin at 197, which sealed the final margin.

Bonus production decided the night. Three technical falls, a late pin and forfeit points in the upper weights turned a competitive middle of the lineup into a 22-point final difference, leaving Cal Poly with an emphatic home finish while Morgan State salvaged individual highlights from the trip.
