The decisive performances were heavy on bonus scoring. At 133 pounds Sam Latona put up a 19-3 technical fall over Jace Palmer, and at 149 pounds Caleb Henson followed with a 19-2 technical fall of Wil Guida. Mekhi Lewis added a major decision at 174, downing Tyler Eischens 11-3, and heavyweight Hunter Catka closed the margin at 285 with a 14-5 major decision over Cade Lautt. Those four bouts alone produced 18 team points in bonus scoring for Virginia Tech.
