Clarion @ Rider

Rider topped Clarion 27-9 at Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J., on February 16, 2024, handing the visiting Golden Eagles an 18-point defeat in the MAC dual. The final score reflected a clear advantage for Rider in bonus scoring, which proved decisive across the middle weights.

The middle of the lineup produced the biggest swings. At 157 pounds Colton Washleski put up a 15-5 major decision over John Altieri, and at 174 Michael Wilson followed with a 10-1 major decision over Suds Dubler. Azeem Bell closed that sequence at 197 with an 11-0 major decision over Ethan Wiant. Each of those wins earned Rider four team points and together supplied 12 bonus points that created the cushion Rider needed to control the dual.

Clarion managed nine team points, but those efforts could not overcome Rider’s burst of bonus scoring in the key matchups. The trio of major decisions in the middle weights was the turning stretch that separated the teams and left Rider comfortably ahead on the scoreboard. The 27-9 result underscored Rider’s ability to convert strong individual performances into bonus points when it mattered most.
