Appalachian State edges Campbell 32-15 behind string of bonus-point wins

Bonus-point results — including two technical falls and a pin — swung the SoCon dual in Appalachian State’s favor at Campbell University.

Buies Creek, N.C. — Appalachian State defeated Campbell 32-15 at Campbell University on Jan. 30, 2026.

Campbell seized an early advantage with two first-period pins, Colby Crouch at 125 pounds and Logan Heil at 133, that produced a rapid six-point burst for the hosts and left Appalachian State trailing in the opening sequence.

Appalachian State answered with consecutive high-value wins that produced the decisive margin. No. 25 Kaden Keiser closed his 149-pound bout by technical fall, 21-5, and Anthony Conetta followed with a 21-4 technical fall at 165. Colt Campbell’s fall at 174 added another six-team points and helped put the dual out of reach for Campbell.

Those bonus results turned Campbell’s early big scores into isolated moments rather than a sustained lead. Tomas Brooker recorded a major decision at 184, Logan Eller won by decision at 197 and Stephan Monchery closed the dual with a 4-2 decision at heavyweight, all contributing to Appalachian State’s run in the latter half of the lineup.

Campbell’s Kendrick Hodge supplied a 7-4 decision at 157 to keep the dual close through the middle weights, but the Mountaineers’ string of tech falls and a late pin produced the margin needed to win by 17 points.

The meet took place on Campbell’s Senior Night; Appalachian State’s athletics release described the result as part of its unbeaten start in Southern Conference duals. Campbell’s postgame release noted the early pins and the home environment as factors in the Camels’ early momentum.

Appalachian State recorded bonus-point victories at several weights and prevailed in seven of the 10 bouts, with the combination of technical falls and falls supplying the margin of victory.
