Army West Point @ Navy Recap
Army Men's Wrestling edged Navy Men's Wrestling 18-17 in Maryland, MD on February 17, 2024 in a dual that came down to bonus points. The final margin was a single team point in a meet where technical falls and majors swung the outcome more than tight decisions.
Ethan Berginc's 19-3 technical fall at 125 pounds delivered five team points for Army and gave them a sizable boost. That dominant result kept Army within striking distance and was one of the most emphatic individual performances on the mat.
Navy answered with two big bonus outings of their own. At 141 pounds Josh Koderhandt scored a 13-3 major decision and at 149 Kaemen Smith followed with a 17-8 major, combining for eight team points and shifting momentum in Navy's favor. Those back-to-back majors were the reason the dual remained a one-point game down the stretch.
The decisive swing ultimately came from Army at 157 pounds, where Nate Lukez posted a 10-1 major decision for four team points. Lukez’s bonus victory provided the edge Army needed to finish 18-17. In a meet defined by bonus-point scoring, the technical fall and the three major decisions determined the outcome.
