Iowa cruised to a 37-3 victory over Northwestern at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City on February 16, 2025. The Hawkeyes built an insurmountable lead thanks to a string of bonus-point results that dominated the scoreboard and left Northwestern with few answers.

The decisive stretch came in the middle weights, where Iowa rolled to multiple technical falls. Michael Caliendo put up a 19-4 technical fall at 165 pounds, Nelson Brands followed with an 18-2 technical fall at 174, and Stephen Buchanan II added an 18-2 technical fall at 197. That run of techs created a gap Northwestern could not close, producing the bulk of the Hawkeyes’ team points.

Iowa also closed the dual with heavy bonus scoring at heavyweight, as Ben Kueter finished with a 20-4 technical fall at 285. In all, Iowa collected six bonus-point victories, a combination of majors and technical falls that turned the match into a rout rather than a one-point dual. Northwestern’s offense was limited, and the string of bonus results proved to be the difference in a lopsided Big Ten meeting.
