Illinois scored a 27-7 dual meet win over Indiana on Jan. 30 at the University of Illinois in Champaign. The Illini pulled away emphatically with multiple bonus-point results and held off Indiana’s lone major decision to collect a comfortable 20-point margin.

The match turned in Illinois’ favor when #10 Kannon Webster went to a technical fall at 157, stopping Bryce Lowery 21-5 and delivering five team points. Later in the line-up Luke Luffman added another swing with a 16-4 major decision at 285 for four more team points, which helped put the dual out of reach for Indiana.

Indiana’s Henry Porter answered with a 13-3 major decision at 141 to salvage four team points for the Hoosiers, but Illinois’ depth kept the scoreboard tilted. At 125 Spencer Moore pulled an upset, as the #14 Moore edged #13 Jacob Moran 6-3 by decision, a close win that chipped away at Indiana’s margin and kept Illinois in control of head-to-head matchups among ranked competitors.

Illinois clinched the victory through a combination of bonus scoring and timely decisions from its ranked wrestlers, leaving Indiana with limited opportunities to counter. The Illini’s technical fall and major decisions were the decisive blows, while Indiana’s major at 141 prevented a shutout but was not enough to change the outcome.
